2017 Fruits of the Spirit Series: Love and Joy

I had to change the intro to this post because I wrote it several days ago thinking I’d post it on on December 1st… but then I got hit with a GI bug that had unspeakable effects. Ahh! I thought surely I would post this yesterday for the first day of Advent, but I was still recovering. Thank goodness I’m finally tolerating solid food again and I’m ready to talk about the good stuff.

This is truly my favorite time of the year and this is my favorite series on the KISS in the Kitchen blog. I started the Fruits of the Spirit series last year when I was self-admittedly having a particularly difficult holiday season and made an intentional effort to live in abundance, focus on the good stuff and count my blessings. Because let’s be honest- even in the most challenging of seasons, there are still things to be grateful for. I’m incredibly grateful to be in a much different season this December, but I still want to maintain the series and even more importantly- an attitude of gratitude!

So what is the good stuff? I’m focusing on the Fruits of the Spirit. LOVEJOYPEACEPATIENCEKINDNESSGOODNESSFAITHFULNESSGENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” -Galatians 5:22-23

First up on our list is love and joy! I’ll take a double helping of both, please ;). Below you will find recipes that embody love and the heart; either adorable heart-shaped cutouts OR recipes that are good for your (and your family’s) ticker! Scroll down a bit further for the joy recipes!

When thinking of joy, I think of brightness, cheer and beautiful colors. These recipes are some of the prettiest recipes from my dietitian colleagues that are sure to bring some joy to your kitchen and to the people eating them!
